Obituary of Betty Jane Nelson

Please share a memory of Betty to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Betty Jane Nelson died peacefully on January 22, 2020, just shy of her 95th Birthday. She has blessedly joined her beloved husband, Dick; parents, Per & Ida Seaholm; step-mother, Adelaide; and brothers, Larry, Jim, and Dickie, in Heaven. She is survived by her children, Rick (Marsha Arndt) and Barb; and the grandchildren she adored: Andrea, Eric, Brian (Devin) and Nick. Betty was born to Swedish immigrant parents and was always proud to boast about her heritage. She grew up on the East Side of St. Paul, graduated from Johnson High School, and was a long-time member of Arlington Hills Lutheran Church. She and Dick enjoyed a wonderful marriage that lasted for 64 inseparable years. They raised their family in Maplewood where they participated in many community programs and often entertained in their home. Betty enjoyed playing golf and bridge, traveling and spending all of her summers at the family cabin on Sturgeon Lake. Most of all she loved to be with her friends & family. Her positive attitude, perseverance, humor and faith will be missed by all those who came in contact with her. Betty’s family would like to thank her friends and team at St. Andrew’s Village and Johanna Shores for helping to bring comfort and joy to her last years. Visitation beginning at 10AM, followed by Memorial Service at 11AM on Monday, Feb. 24 at Arlington Hills Lutheran Church, 1115 Greenbrier St, St. Paul. Luncheon to follow. Interment at Union Cemetery. Memorials preferred to Arlington Hills Lutheran Church.
