Obituary of Yuri Babikov

Please share a memory of Yuri to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Yuri Mikhaylovich Babikov passed away, surrounded by his loving family at his home on July 6th, 2020. He was reunited with his wife, Lucy, on the day of Saint Lucy on the Orthodox Church calendar, two years after her passing. Yuri was born in Russia and immigrated to the United States later in his life. An aircraft engineer by education and trade, there was virtually nothing that Yuri could not do. Yuri was a strong, steadfast person who did things with great care and patience, from handcrafting a house to caring for his wife when she was unable. Hard work had a special meaning in his heart and his life. He took pride in his work, independence, and ability to contribute and never stopped working until his last moments. Yuri was a teacher in his heart and continuously passed his skills and knowledge to his children and grandchildren with patience, love, and care. As any great teacher, he loved learning and never missed an opportunity to expand his knowledge, whether it was reading a history book or an English dictionary. Yuri was a kind, gentle, and caring son, brother, husband, father, grandfather. He was admired and loved by his younger siblings, children and grandchildren. Yuri loved satire, though sometimes his dark humor caused a gasp during family gatherings. Yuri was a man full of love, with a bright smile, and with a special, knowing twinkle in his eyes. He is survived by his sister, Valentina, and brother, Vladimir; his two daughters, Elena and Anneta; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Yuri was preceded in death by his wife, Ludmila, and their beloved dog, Shelly; his mother, Alexandra; his fathers, Michael and Gregory; and his younger brother, Igor. May God grant His servant, Yuri, peace and joy in the Heavenly Kingdom, and may his memory be eternal! Services were held at Holy Trinity Orthodox Church in Saint Paul, Minnesota on Saturday, July 11, 2020.
