Dorothy Mae Kedrowski was born to Rasmussen and Tilda on October 6,1924 in St. Paul, Minnesota and was a loving sister to Harriet, Hazel, LaVonn "Toots" and Winifred (Winnie). She was a wife to Michael Kedrowski, whom she married in 1945.
She was a mother to Michael (Jodie), and Cynthia (Dennis); Grandmother to Heather, Tara, Lori, Michael Jr., Lisa, Kristine, Amy, Elizabeth, Michael Wayne, Joseph, Sarah, and had 20 great grandchildren.
Dorothy passed away on July 14, 2025, at the age of 100. She was preceded in death by her sisters, husband, daughter Linda, and grandson Tony.
After attending Mechanic Arts High School, she quickly became one of the trailblazing women of the 1940s who paved the way for future generations in the workplace. During World War II, she worked in a submarine parts factory to help support her family. Eventually, she transitioned to working in retail, which she loved and remained in until retirement. It was a perfect fit given her lifelong interest in fashion. Dorothy remained committed to dressing her best every day—always in skirts and dresses with complimentary jewelry and liked to think she looked a bit like Queen Elizabeth II.
Dorothy was happiest spending time with her family (and any nearby animals). She loved playing with her grandchildren, making up wildly creative stories, inventing games, and spending countless hours coloring, playing with paper dolls, card games, and more. She especially liked to come up with fun craft projects and picked the hobby back up in her later years.
Nothing could get her laughing like the antics of animals. She lavished gentle affection on the family pets and collected humorous animal pictures.
She was a skilled baker and to the delight of her family, friends, and neighbors, was more than happy to share.
Her signature passion for any and everything floral, especially lavender, carried throughout her life. She often gasped at the sight of bouquet or print as though seeing flowers for the first time.
She will always be remembered for her love of family and the childlike wonder that stayed with her no matter the challenges she faced and the number of years she lived.
Dorothy was truly special and much loved.
Her family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff at Good Samaritan Society of Maplewood for their care and comfort, as well as the meaningful relationships they built with Dorothy in her later years.
