Carle
Richard L. "Dick"
Age 90, of Oakdale
Passed away on Saturday, November 1, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. Dick was born on September 28, 1935, in St. Paul, Minnesota, to Lillian and Leo Carle. He was the third of eight children. Dick graduated from Washington High School. He spent two years in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Alaska, where he played on the Army hockey team. Dick was and always remained an avid sports fan. In 1964, he met his loving wife Sharon, and they were married shortly after. They settled in Oakdale, where they raised their 3 daughters, who eventually gave them 5 grandsons, 2 granddaughters, and 3 great-granddaughters. He enjoyed being a grandpa more than anything else in the world. He was the type of person who was there for you if you needed anything. Everyone who met him loved his animated personality and caring heart. He made friends with everyone he met, and he has touched so many lives in his 90 years. Dick worked for the Public Works Department for the City of West St. Paul for many years until he retired. He was a member of the Lion's Club and loved to volunteer. He volunteered for the Cafesjian's Carousel at Como Park for over 20 years, and he was also an active member at Gustavus Adolphus Lutheran Church throughout the years.
Dick was preceded in death by son Steven Richard; his parents Leo and Lillian; sister Judith Butler, brother Arnold; mother and father-in-law Ione and Brad Spear; brother-in-laws Colin Cotterell, Don Boxmeyer, Butz Schwartz, and LeRoy Butler; and sister-in-law Lola Supalla and many dear friends.
He is survived by wife Sharon; daughters Shari (Ted) Luchsinger, Dawn (David) Lindgren and Jeannine (Dominic) Berntson; grandchildren Matt, Brittney (Andrew), Bradley, Joshua, Tyler, Sydney and Tristan; great-grandchildren Sophie, Carly and Ellie; sisters Darlene Schwartz, Kathy Boxmeyer, Janet (Tom) DeLong, Linda Cotterell; brother Roger (Bonnie); sister-in-law, Bonnie (Gene) Miller; brothers-in-law, Dennis "Butch" (Joy) Spear and Dennis Supalla; and many nieces and nephews. Special thanks and appreciation to the St. Croix Hospice and Bright Star care teams who lovingly took great care of him during his last month.
