Lola Gail Clark, age 77, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2026, at Hopkins Restorative Care Center after a brief period in hospice care. She was surrounded by love in her final moments, with her brother David and nephew Jared by her side, and her daughter Julie and son Jim present by phone. Lola had been a proud resident of Saint Paul, Minnesota, since 2008 and cherished the community she built there.
Lola was born July 5, 1948, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Mahlon Thomas Osburn and Alice Florence Osburn (Delamater). She grew up surrounded by family and carried that strong sense of connection with her throughout her life. On March 22, 1969, she married Robert Kaminski, who passed away on June 6, 1973. She later married Frederick Clark on December 21, 1974, and they divorced on October 14, 1986.
A hardworking and determined woman, Lola spent over 10 years as an MTC bus driver and later worked for over 18 years as a truck driver. She took pride in her work and valued her independence. Even after enduring major surgeries, chemotherapy, and radiation treatments, she remained determined to live life on her own terms. In 2013 she moved into Iowa Hi Rise, where she lived until 2022, and then became a resident of Hamline Hi Rise. She loved meeting people and built many lasting friendships in both communities. The nurses and caregivers who supported her adored her spirit, humor, and strong will, and they deeply respected her determination to remain as independent as possible.
Lola had a creative heart and a passion for crocheting and sewing until her hands would no longer allow it. She found joy in staying connected with loved ones through photos shared by her children and grandchildren on Facebook, which she saved as treasured keepsakes. She also loved playing games, especially Solitaire and Monopoly, which brought her laughter and connection with family.
Her cancer journey began in 2008 after a fall where she broke her wrist that led to the discovery of a lump in her breast. She often spoke with gratitude of meeting her oncologist, Dr. Dan Anderson, in 2008, whose kindness and unwavering support stayed with her through every step, even taking time to visit her in the hospital before she transitioned to hospice care. She was diagnosed with Stage 4 metastatic breast cancer that spread to her breast bone and faced the next 18 years with remarkable courage and resilience. She underwent numerous treatments, including chemotherapy, radiation, and a double mastectomy. In 2019 she was also diagnosed with colon cancer and underwent surgery. As time passed, the cancer progressed further into her bones and ultimately spread to her neck and spine. Through every challenge, Lola kept a positive attitude and an unbreakable spirit. Even in her final days, when asked how she was doing, she would smile and say, “I’m still here” or “I’m just dandy.”
She proudly participated each year in Race for the Cure and treasured her pink event T-shirts, wearing them as symbols of strength and determination. She held firmly to her belief that she had beaten cancer and wore her survivor spirit with pride.
Lola was also a longtime member of the Kingdom Hall, first attending at Edgerton and later near Phalen Park. Her faith and sense of community brought her comfort and encouragement throughout her life.
