Donald Lloyd "Don" Fackler Obituary

Loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather and Brother. Went Home to be with his Lord on March 28, 2026. He was born at his Grandmother’s home in West Des Moines, IA on June 12, 1933, and was the first of three sons born to Lloyd and Mary Fackler.


Preceded in death by Loving Wife extraordinaire (of 70 years) Evelyn, parents, brothers James and David, sisters-in-law Carol and Janice, brother-in-law Tommy Thomas, several nieces and nephews. Survived by sons Dan (Nancy), Rick (Carol) and daughter Kay Dornfeld (Kurt), and special grandson John, 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.


Don attended Des Moines Tech High School where he was active in several sports and where he met the love of his life Evelyn Lowe. They were married on August 5, 1953, for 70 years. Don served in the U.S. Army (1953-1955) 1st Armored Division. Don moved his young family to Minnesota in 1962. He received an associate degree from Lakewood College. Don was a journeyman Tool and Die maker, later becoming Plant Engineer, finishing his career at Honeywell/Alliant Tech, retiring in 1995 and contracting overseas in Ukraine for 2 years after.


He served as the local Chapter President and Regional Vice President for the American Institute of Plant Engineers. He was a Cub Scout and Boy Scout Master and was involved in many other youth activities. Don was a member of the St. Paul Police Reserve and St. Fair Police (parttime license). He was a 57 year Mason, served as master, a Scottish Rite Red Hat. He served as Commander as well as several posts in The Grand Commandry of MN. He was Captain of Drum and Bugle Corp., Pipe Major and Chief of Staff several times for the Osman Shrine. He attended the First Evangelical Free Church of Maplewood for many years.


A Funeral Service will take place on Tuesday, April 7th at 11 AM at Anderson Funeral Home, 1401 Arcade St. Visitation 1 hour prior. Private interment to follow. Memorials Preferred to Shriners Children’s Hospital or donor’s choice.
