Obituary of Dorothy E. Allen

Dorothy Eileen (Reed) Allen, 82, passed on March 3, 2019. Born on December 7, 1936. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Ruben (Dale) Allen. Dorothy is survived by her two daughters and their families, Lori (Chip) and Emily Nielsen, and Leanne (Dwight) and Brian Shaw. She is also survived by one sister, Betty Powley; one brother, George Reed; and many nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was a homemaker who dearly loved her family. She was a proud member of the Evangelical United Methodist Church and later, Hope Baptist Church, both in Brainerd.  She taught Sunday School and Release Time classes. She enjoyed many crafts, including crocheting, embroidery and counted cross stitch. Dorothy always put others before herself. She will be deeply missed. A heartfelt thank you to Patty Fitzgerald and all the staff at 3E Southview Acres Health Care Center for the love and care they gave Dorothy.
