Obituary of Phillip G. Briggs
Please share a memory of Phillip to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Phillip G. Briggs (1965-2020), passed peacefully on March 17, 2020, surrounded by family who loved him dearly. His light will remain in our hearts always. He will be forever remembered by mother, Anne; brother, John (Ann); sisters, Paulette (Dennis), Vivian, Nadine (Johnnie); nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews; many cousins near and far; family friend, Peggy, and many friends. Waiting to accompany him on this next journey were his father, Gerald; his grandparents, Legros and Briggs; his nephew, LeRoy; and niece, Natalie.
Originally from St. Paul, Phil resided in Woodbury with his 2nd family of John, Eric and Mark. Special thanks to the staff at Woodhill House. Early on he lived at Hammer Residences in Wayzata and later at Edgewater in Stillwater. He was blessed to have been surrounded with caring staff wherever he hung his hat.
Phil was known for his sense of humor and one-liners! He was a gifted harmonica player, just waiting for someone to ask him to play a rendition of whatever song was in his head. He loved attending church and sometimes played the harmonica there. His greatest pleasure was to travel and that he did, taking 2 or 3 trips yearly, often with Ventures Travel. He frequently recalled his favorite expeditions to Wales with nephews, Chase and Miles, and cousins, Jonell and Steve. Phil had a wide social network of friends, was proficient on his computer and flip phone. He worked at numerous jobs over the years including Newtrax, Perkins, Old Navy, ProAct and Merrick, to mention a few.
He was so proud of the many medals earned while participating in Special Olympics for bowling, swimming and weight lifting. For this reason, the family requests, in lieu of flowers, that memorials be made to either Special Olympics or the Animal Humane Society.
He endeared himself to all those he encountered and was loved by all. The family is grateful to the ICU staff at Woodwinds Hospital and all who sent well wishes.
