Mrs. Grauer was one of the most special teachers I have ever had. When I attended Four Seasons in Saint Paul as a child, I had the pleasure of being in her class for 2 years in third and fourth grade. I remember Mrs. Grauer teaching us about the blind and how to read brail. I remember how strong she was when she was receiving treatment for breast cancer. I remember watching the news in her classroom on 9/11. But most of all, I remember her unconditional love, kindness, humor, and passion for educating children. Mrs. Grauer was much more than a teacher to me. She was a role model. A hero. Someone to look up to. Someone I felt seen by, respected by, and loved by even when I wasn't experiencing those things in my home life. I have often wondered how she has been since I left Minnesota and have wanted to see her again. I'm saddened to know I will never see her again. But, I will certainly never forget her and will take the things she has taught me with me for the rest of my life.
