When John retired from 3M I had to shake his hand as he walked by my house. I told him I as a fellow 3Mer had attended many retirement parties but none for someone who had worked there as long as he had. But the best memory of John was how generous he was to let all the kids in the neighborhood go sledding on Webster’s hill. He flooded the garden at the bottom of the hill and let neighbors use it also. His only requirement was that you ask him first so that he knew who’s kids were on his hill. It kept all the kids in the neighborhood and they got to know each other that way. The whole Webster family was a bedrock of our neighborhood and we are saddened by his passing.
