Melva Helgason Obituary

Passed away quietly in her sleep surrounded by her family on August 13, 2013. She was born March 25, 1917 in Mandan, North Dakota. Preceded in death by her husband, Hallgrimur Helgason and great grandson Hawkin Dahn. Survived by her sons, Jon (Karen), Jim (Lesle), Charles (Laurie), Chris (Patty); grandchildren, Rodney Nixon, Elizabeth Miller (Josh), Jared Nixon (Anna-Liisa), Laura Helgason, Matthew Helgason, Afton Helgason (Lucas Dahn), Ryan Helgason (Julie), Ashley Anthonsen (Robert), Katherine Helgason and Chad Helgason. great grandchildren; Jackson and Gabrielle Miller, Ulysses and Delphine Nixon, and Easton Helgason plus countless loving and caring friends. She was a long time East Side resident, nurse at Anchor and Bethesda Hospitals and active member of Arlington Hills Lutheran Church. She will always be remembered by those who love her as a generous, compassionate and spirited woman, that often expressed her love through cooking. Memorials preferred to Arlington Hills Lutheran Church.
