Anna (Nana) Tacheny
2-1-1959 - 7-7-2022
After a short, but courageous battle with lung cancer, Anna Marie was called home at the age of 63, peacefully surrounded by the love of her daughter and family, on July 7th, 2022.
Born and raised in St. Paul, MN, Anna adored living in the Como Park area, where she devoted time tending to her gardens, spending her afternoons basking in the sun and hosting lunch or dinners with friends. Anna enjoyed attending the fun “Cousin Club” get-togethers, a tradition she helped start pre-covid days. Most important to her though was spending time with her grandchildren, as they were the sparkle in her eyes-she always came prepared with a candy bar or their favorite sweets, spoiling them like Nana’s do best.
Anna-mother, Nana, sister, aunt, cousin, friend, will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She was a warrior princess, who took every ailment or diagnosis as the next challenge opposed to being defeated. She was the fun and “crazy” aunt who loved her nieces and nephews so much. She was the baby sister who always looked out for her siblings, checking in on them daily and the mother to her only daughter, gaining “bonus” daughters down the road.
Anna was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Ranghild (Babe) Paugel, brothers David and Charles Paugel, sister Carol Sanz and brother-in-law Chuck Vandeberg. Survived by her daughter LeAnn Marie and son-in-law Jason Anderson, grandchildren Justin Kelly, Jaxon and Jazmin Anderson, brothers Richard (Susie) Paugel and Jerry Paugel, sister Delores Vandeberg and brother-in-law Gene Sanz, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A special thank you to the staff at United Hospital ER and Unit 3900, Dr. Prasanthi Meagher, special friend Catherine Cummings and Anna’s bonus daughters, Sheilah McGrath-Luster, Angela DiPalma and Angela Del Rosario for “adopting” Anna as a 2nd mom, always checking in on her to see how she was or if she needed anything.
Please join us in celebration of Anna. Memorial Service at 11AM Saturday August 20th, with visitation 1 hour prior to the service at Anderson Funeral Home 1401 Arcade Steet (HWY 61) St Paul. Luncheon to follow at 1pm at the Anderson-Nelson Roseville VFW.
