Obituary of Regina Veronica Turbes

Regina Veronica Turbes, 72, daughter of Sylvester G. And Janet (Murphy) Turbes died at our Lady of Peace Hospice in St. Paul on 12-22-2022. Survived by sisters Patricia Turbes- Mohs, Elizabeth (Carleton) McCambridge, Teresa and Catherine Turbes, brother Thomas (Gillian) Turbes, and nieces, nephew, and great nieces and nephews. Born with multiple, profound intellectual and physical disabilities, Regina was a resident of Cambridge State School and Hospital for 25 years and Furness House for 30+ years where she lived with her sisters Teresa and Cathy who were also born with multiple, profound intellectual and physical disabilities. Gina loved to sing and we had weekly hootenannies with her and our two sisters, Cathy and Teresa, who continue to live at Furness. Gina enjoyed going to church, liked to tell knock-knock jokes and she was very sociable. Everybody loved Regina and she loved everybody. We will especially miss her at Christmas time. She knew every Christmas carol and song and sang with gusto. We are grateful for the excellent care she received at Furness, a Phoenix Residence, and from the staff at Our Lady of Peace Hospice who also provided her with tranquility in her last hours. On Friday, April 14th, a Memorial Mass will be held at 11 AM preceded by a visitation at 10 AM at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 1079 Summit Avenue, Saint Paul.
