Obituary of Grant Risch Johnson

Grant R. Johnson was born March 1, 1938 to Ernst and Louise Johnson at St.John’s Hospital in St. Paul. He passed away on April 4, 2023 at Woodwinds Hospital in Woodbury, MN. Grant is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Curtis and Paul, sister-in-law Kay, cousins Jacquelyn Snodgrass and Keith Risch. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Christine, his sister-in-law Anne Johnson, god children Glen Johnson, Nadene Tipton and Kyle Anderson, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Grant was a graduate of Johnson High class of 1956, held an Associates degree from the U Of M, a Bachelors degree in Education from U of W, River Falls, and a Masters degree in Education from Bemidji State. Grant was an elementary school teacher at ISD 622 for more than 30 years. A member of the St. Paul Swedish Male Chorus for 40 years, he also belonged to Norske Torske Klubben. He and his wife did lots of traveling throughout the world, especially Scandinavia. He will be remembered for his humor and joy of life. The service will take place April 22, 2023 at 10:30 AM at Gustavus Adolphus Lutheran Church,1669 Arcade St, St. Paul ,MN with visitation from 9:00 AM to time of service. A lunch will follow.
