Obituary of Erika Neihart
Please share a memory of Erika to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Beloved Mother and Grandmother. Erika celebrated her 100th birthday on July 1, 2012. Erika was born in St. Paul to Anna and Frederick Mauck shortly after their arrival in the U.S. from Germany in 1912. She married John Neihart August 31, 1937 and they shared 61 loving years before his passing in 1998. She was also preceded in death by her brother Hellmuth Mauck and son Frederick. Survived by sons Jack (Gale) and Peter (Ceil); 7 grandchildren Debbie, John, Janet, Julie, Anna, Jennifer, Julie Ann and Jesse; 6 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild and special cousins Gunther and Dorte Bornholdt of Albersdorf, Germany. Erika's family always came first and she spent much time sewing, cooking, and baking for her "boys". She was active in the Audubon Society and loved to read and learn about anything to do with nature. She always had a beautiful yard at their home on Wheelock Parkway that they built in 1940. Her happiest days were spent at the cabin she and John had in Lutsen, Minnesota. Erika maintained her independence until 4 years ago when she moved first into Birchwood Arbors assisted living and then to their Healthcare Center in Forest Lake, where she was well cared for and quite popular among the staff and other residents. She always kept her humor and good nature. A special thanks to all of them. She will be missed by all who knew her. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
