Karen Beach Gibson Obituary

Karen Beach Gibson lived a life grounded in faith, love, and service. Born into a Christian family,

Karen's upbringing in St. Paul, Minnesota, instilled in her a deep sense of community and

purpose. Her parents, Nathaniel and Catherine Okerlund, created a warm and loving home filled

with family gatherings, church activities, and cherished memories.

Karen's early years were marked by her love of learning, active participation in school and

church, and a strong commitment to her Christian faith. She pursued a nursing career,

motivated by her mother’s example and a passion for helping others. After excelling in her

studies, Karen began a fulfilling career that later extended into missionary work.

Karen’s calling led her to Hong Kong, where she served as a nurse and met her future husband,

Carl Beach. Together, they dedicated their lives to missionary service, supporting education,

church planting, and community development. Their work in Hong Kong transformed lives and

established lasting connections, including vibrant churches that continue to thrive.

Karen and Carl raised three children, Kirstin, Ryan, and Robyn, while navigating the unique

challenges and blessings of a life shared between cultures. As a mother, Karen was deeply

loving, patient, and devoted, creating a nurturing home. She guided her children with wisdom,

faith, and unconditional support, instilling values that shape their lives to this day. After Carl's

passing, Karen continued her ministry work with China Outreach Ministries, where she

supported and mentored Chinese scholars in Minnesota.

Later in life, Karen married Bob Gibson, filling their days with travel, music, and family. Despite

health challenges, Karen’s resilience and trust in God’s plan remained unwavering. Her legacy

includes a loving family, enduring friendships, and a life devoted to faith and service.

Karen’s life verse, Proverbs 3:5-6, exemplifies her journey: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart

and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your

paths straight." Her life stands as a testament to the power of faith, love, and a servant’s heart.
