Obituary of Peggy Oslund
Please share a memory of Peggy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Peggy Ann Oslund passed away with grace and dignity, and on her own terms, on November 7, of complications from Parkinson's disease. Born February 9, 1925 in Rock Rapids, IA to Edgar and Inez Partch. She spent her youth in Flandreau, SD and lived her entire adult life on St. Paul's East Side with her best friend and husband, Edward ("Eddie" or Edvard" to her) to whom she was happily married for 65 wonderful years. Peggy was the center of the loving home she provided for Eddie and her children, Janet (Doug) Grove and David (Mary Pat) Oslund, always there for her family, never needing the spotlight, and providing encouragement and support for every endeavor. Peggy was a thinker, extremely bright, salutatorian of her high school class and a voracious reader all through her life until her eyesight finally failed to keep up with her agile mind. She was the family historian, delighting them with her vivid recollections of events long-passed, sometimes funny, often poignant. Peggy took great joy from the company and achievement of her grandchildren, Jason Grove (Sara), Katherine, Joey and David Oslund, and great-grandchildren Zach, Katie and Luke Grove. Her warmth and care for them was reciprocated in their profound love for their Grandma Peggy. Peggy did not fear death; as a Christian she believed she will now join with loved ones who have gone before. Her family already misses her greatly, but we are so happy to have had the best wife, Mom and Grandma we could ever have hoped for. A heartfelt thank you to the caregivers at St. Therese at St. Odilia, where Peggy spent the final weeks of her life. Their compassion and respect for the entire family provided so much comfort. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to G.A. Church, American Diabetes Association or Loaves & Fishes.
