Obituary of Harriet Youngquist

Age 81, of St Paul, MN, passed away on Thursday, December 27 at Presbyterian Homes of Arden Hills MN after a long illness. Harriet was born on Sept 13, 1931 and was preceded in death by husband, Ronald Youngquist; her parents, Herbert and Florence Carlson and sister, Janet Irwin. Harriet is survived by her children, Deborah (Curt) Prader, David (Jeannie) Youngquist, Diane (Kyle) Davis, and Daniel (Jill) Youngquist; 10 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; brother, Roger (Alice) Carlson; sisters, Lois (Don) Taverna, Joan Bell, Judy Crotteau; and many nieces and nephews. Lifelong member of Arlington Hills United Methodist Church. Harriet was born and raised in St. Paul, and attended Johnson High School. Harriet was a devoted wife and mother and served the Lord faithfully. She also worked as an Executive Assistant at First Bank for several years before retiring to spend more time with Ron and her family. Over fifty years ago, Harriet supported husband Ron in founding Camp Needlepoint, a summer camp for children affected by diabetes - now hosted by the American Diabetes Association. Harriet loved God, her family, and the beauty of God's creation. She enjoyed many hobbies with her family and friends such as gardening, flower arranging, writing, live theater, camping, cross country skiing, and weekends at the family cabin. She had a deep and personal faith in God, and enjoyed expressing her faith through writings and short devotionals. Harriet was a humble and kind person and will always be remembered for her lifelong dedication to God and her family. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Memorials preferred to Arlington Hills United Methodist Church.
