I must have known this was coming as I've been thinking I should call Retta. I guess the end was swift, judging from Steve's wording of a "massive stroke." Needless to say, I'm deeply saddened. She must have been my most long-lived friend. I have so many memories of her and her family. And then, of course, when my son David came to look at Macalester College and you all were so cordial, there's another chapter of memories. I am very saddened, and send sympathy for John, Molly and Steve. Love, Mary Ann Chidsey
