Obituary of Douglas Alan Phillips

Phillips, Douglas Alan age 65, passed away peacefully on Nov 25 2016. He was preceded in death by Mother Darlene V. Gleason, survived by Father Richard Phillips, brothers David (Mary Jo) & Timothy (Becky) Nieces Teresa, Justine, Lisa, Heather & Nephew Brandon. He was a grateful, kind soul and faithful friend who gave to others freely, and asked for little in return. He graduated from Iowa State in Metallurgical Engineering. At Rockwell, he worked on nuclear reactors, and the space program. His hobbies included working with his uncles to rebuild a Beechcraft Musketeer, become a pilot, explored Europe, and later, he would own a Cal 24 and sail the coast of California. He had a great sense of humor, never complained, and faced adversity (mental illness and the loss of his marriage) with quiet strength. He was a selfless hero to his family an friends who will miss him dearly.
