Carolyn Sargent Guthrie

Died peacefully surrounded by family on Monday, January 8, 2018. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. J. Cameron Guthrie; parents, Plato and Violet Sargent; and sister, Louise Robertson. She is survived by her brother, James C. Sargent Sr.; children, Cameron Guthrie (Cathy), Deborah Guthrie, Peggy Guthrie, Janet Guthrie (Kevin Baierl), Elizabeth Guthrie (Paul Wikstrom), and Nancy Guthrie (Perry Laden); grandchildren, Kristy Van Hoven (Chris Scott), Jay Van Hoven (Becca), Erik Jackson, Daniel Jackson, Jennifer Guthrie, Abigail Guthrie, Lauren Wikstrom, Michelle Wikstrom, Christopher Wikstrom, Pierce Laden, and Lance Laden; and many nieces and nephews.

Carol was born in Red Wing, Minnesota on March 9, 1928. She graduated from Pine Island High School (1946) and Macalester College (1950). She actively volunteered with many organizations and causes including Women's Advocates; delivering Meals on Wheels; leading grief support groups at Roseville Area Senior Program; and working with People, Incorporated.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 1:00 PM followed by a reception until 3:00 PM at Macalester College Weyerhaeuser Memorial Chapel, 1604 Grand Ave., St. Paul. Memorials preferred to Women's Advocates, Second Harvest Heartland or Planned Parenthood.
