Obituary of Fred Hinickle

Fred W. Hinickle

Age 93 of St. Paul, formerly of Madison, WI, passed away on Jan. 17, 2018.  Preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis and son, Jason.  Survived by daughter, Lisa of St. Paul; and nephew, Paul of Houston, TX.  Fred had a variety of careers including journalism and government service.  He worked for the State of Wisconsin and rose to an executive position before deciding to seek a degree in Law.  At age 55, he was the oldest graduate from the University of Wisconsin-Madison when he received his Law Degree.  He returned to the State and retired as the Chairman for the State Parole Board.  Many knew Fred to be a strong and irascible personality.  His daughter would often describe him as a bear (when you hugged him you weren’t sure if you’d get a hug or a growl).  He had a heart of gold, too and was a loving husband, father and friend.  Thank you to the amazing staff at Eagle Crest for their support and care.  A special thank you to Chris (aka “Sweetie”) for her amazing support.  No services are planned.  Memorials are preferred to the Animal Humane Society, 845 Meadow Ln, Golden Valley, MN  55422.
