Dear Bill, I was eating dinner with my family tonight and it reminded me of an evening, many, many years ago, when my parents and I were invited to dinner at your house. Your mom had made a roast beef. Long after the grown-ups had left the table, you and I sat there, helping ourselves to just one more piece of meat...and then another...and another. Eventually, your mom came over to check on us and exclaimed that she had been planning on using the beef for another meal, but that we had basically eaten the entire thing. That's a memory that has stuck with my for more than 50 years. All of which made me think of your mother, so I looked her up online. She was a kind and wonderful person, and lived a full and meaningful life. All the best to you, and I hope you and your family are doing well.
